Books
Given below is a list of recommended reading about Giving and Service Learning for children.
Ideas to nurture philanthropy
Plan a birthday party but instead of accepting gifts, have your child ask for donations for a local or global non-profit. Some ideas include art supplies for inner city schools, canned or packaged foods for underserved children etc.
Involve your child in the act of giving - a trip to Salvation Army, Soup Kitchens, Meals on Wheels, orphanages on an active basis helps instill a routine whether it be undertaken on birthdays or during the holiday season.
Have your child create a service project of their own in their school or community. The project can be taken on in-person or online. Involve friends and family and see how you can encourage more people to catch on to your idea!
